My Little Camel

Sigg make love not war When I received this water-toting container from a friend, it honestly took me a while to begin using it. Then, my friend had one in her car, and raved about it keeping water cold. I thought “I like my water cold too”, and I tried it.

Instantly, its use eliminated the need for styrofoam, paper cups, and even the need to wash multiple cups at home, saving water, waste, and materials.

But, the best thing about the Sigg is the taste. It allows you to enjoy water as it is, truly devoid of strange flavors like plastic or metal. It’s, it’s, it's...like real water. Here’s a test I inadvertently tried: I used my Sigg for about a week, non-stop...then I ran out of water...so I bought a bottle at the store...and it tasted horrible! The results show that metal is less likely to leak fumes or toxins.

The only downfall is the temperature the outside can reach when it’s filled with hot water, it gets hot! Fortunately, the handy top can be affixed to carry it away.

Sigg also donates 1% to the planet. One percent for the planet

So, if you want to enjoy crisp tasteful (or tasteless) beverages and help the earth, consider investing in one of these babies. You’ll constantly not regret it!

Skin Heaven

Healthybeautifulskin_thumb A recent gift of Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare products has left my 27 year old face brighter, less wrinkly, and more vibrant. The results of this "study" (me using the various products for a few weeks) has proven that the products do indeed work, and do so far beyond my wildest expectations. After one application of the Smoothing Eye Serum, there was a distinguishable notice, and the Daily Eye Repair really works well, and has light reflecting particles that make those pesky dark circles minimal.

The Instant Boost Tonic contains a pleasant smelling liquid which seems to clean your pores well and brighten your complexion. Seems strange, but once I looked in the mirror after the first cleanse, I noticed a huge difference and had to go back to read the bottle to make sure it didn't say "will exponentially make you look younger", because, really, I was only going for a few years off.

Liz Earles' Green Policy: from sustainable, fairly traded ingredients to their newsletters, Liz Earle is doing their part to change your skin, and our world for the better.

(Fake) Hot Dog!

Yvesveggiedog I love Fake meat. I eat fake hot dogs like it's my job, which is somewhat ironic...

After countless fake dogs, a favorite has been chosen. Of the four brands available in my town (Tofu Pup, Veggie Dog, Smart Dog, and Yves), there is a definite winner.

Yves fake hot dogs pleased the tastebuds the best. Both flavorful and texturally pleasing, this fake dog is excellent when cooked in a pan with onions, and a buttery or oily substance.

Recipe for cooking the ideal veggie dog:

Heat up a pan with oil (preferably coconut oil), and cut up some thinly sliced onions. Put the hot dog and onions in the pan, flipping the hot dogs and stirring the onions every now and then until their edges turn brown. When the hot dogs and onions are to your liking, toast your bun and voila! Fake Dog at your fingertips. Dress with your usual hot dog condiments.

By replacing a real hot dog with this fake one saves lives and countless resources including water, grain, energy, and so much more. Not to mention, there's nothing weird in them.

Recycled Map Envelopes Now Used by SustainabiliTee!

Envelopetee_recycled    The much-loved and hard-to-find recycled map envelopes are now the official package of the single SustainabiliTee. These tasteful, elegant, and durable envelopes are not only great to use, but sealing them and writing on them is actually pleasurable!

The best part is their 100% post-consumer nature, as they're made from misprinted or refused European maps and produced by DirektRecycling. You can purchase them in the U.S. currently in the gift shop at StartMotions.com.

Even when you order 20 shirts, I still pack them in as much post-consumer material as possible. Boxes and all packing material are gathered by friends and family before the inevitable trip to the trash, or sometimes the recycle center...but directly recycling it saves even more energy than recycling it!

So, when you get your package, please be sure to reuse it yet again. Who knows, the box and its material could be used 100 more times before having to be recycled or thrown out (or better yet, reused in an inventive way). This alone will save 100 boxes and countless non-recycled or recyclable material.

Thank you for visiting, and for shopping with us!

Repel Wasps Naturally

Wasp_nest_photo_200201 Here's the easiest possible way to get rid of wasps, without endangering yourself or them. Since they are territorial by nature, they won't impose on another wasps territory. Simply put a fake wasp's nest near where they hang out! You can buy one here ($17.95 each) and here (12.95, more decorative, for a set of two).

Or you can even make your own out of a small paper bag and a grey or even yellow marker. 1. Stuff the bag with a sheet of newspaper. 2. Round the square edges. 3. Make markings similar to the image of this real wasp nest. 4. Tie it with a string. 5. Hang it near where you see the wasps most often.

Pseudo Green

Eventually, perhaps even inevitably, profit-conscious companies are going to jump on the "green" bandwagon. Even Wal-Mart. This and many other corporations are hoping to cash in on the growing environmental consciousness of more and more consumers. But it's not always quite what it seems. Have you heard of "greenwashing"? (And we don't mean green laundry soap!) The backlash can be significant. This article in the San Francisco Gate ponders the consequences of marginalizing green. And this one from Travel magazine considers the greenwashing of the travel business. Let us and others know how you feel about the subject. Thank you for your concern and patronage.

And this spring, more and more cleaning products are available to help us help keep Mother Earth clean too. We at Sustainabilitee use Seventh Generation laundry soap to prepare all our SustainabiliTees for you. But there are many more offerings for all your cleaning chores. Whether you're washing dishes, floors, laundry or yourself, take a look at this article for a fine overview of what you have as green options. Thank you.
