Yuri Norstein came to Rhode Island School of Design in 2001, where he officially changed me from a Landscape Architect to an Animator. Yuri Norstein, Francesca Yarbusova (Yuris' wife), and cameraman Alexander Zhukovsky created works like Heron and Crane, an animation of profound depth and beauty. Created in 1974, Yuri invented the method of animating on different layers of glass, allowing him to bring fog, leaves, and branches to different levels of the movie screen. His thought-provoking masterpieces still stand today as some of the most beautiful and meaningful animations of all time.
